“I got into this profession because I thoroughly enjoy having the ability to influence public policy. Over a 14-year period, I held almost every position in Boston’s state legislature, from page to legal counsel handling some of the largest issues on the hill. As an aide, I served legislators on both sides of the aisle. I also had the opportunity to serve as chief legal counsel for the Joint Committee on Insurance and as legal counsel to the House Ways and Means Committee as well as several other committees.
“After five years of practicing law, moving to government relations was a natural transition for me considering my past work with individuals at every level in the State House. It gets me out of the office — attending briefings, talking to legislators, checking on pending issues — whatever it takes to advocate for my clients’ interests.
“At Serlin Haley, I’ve been able to broaden my practice from a Massachusetts focus to a national focus. I’m able to represent my clients’ interests not just here in Boston but in Washington, D.C., Minneapolis, and other state capitols around the country. Pierce serves on the Public Affairs Council’s board of directors and is a member of its Public Affairs Institute and a frequent panelist or speaker at PAC conferences and other events. In Massachusetts, Pierce is an active member of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, an executive board member of the Boston Municipal Research Bureau, and a director of FamilyAid Boston and the Mass. Afterschool Partnership. Pierce graduated from Suffolk University before also earning his J.D. at Suffolk University Law School.
