“Decisions are only as good as the information that goes into them.  In government relations, that means understanding not only the process under which the legislative sausage gets made, but also the political dynamics that drive the process and shape the outcome.

“Unfortunately, no two states are the same.  Growing in parallel, but from different historical roots, the legislatures in each state have developed different protocols and procedures over time.  Today, each speaks a slightly different dialect, if not language, to describe the options and stages marking the legislative process.

“We are here to translate these dialects, and to give clients a clear, consistent picture of their political challenges and opportunities from one state to the next.  Not only do we track legislation across all fifty states, we help them to prioritize, to map strategy and, where necessary, to identify allies and neutralize foes.

“But we’re not only there to help in times of battle.  One of our most important roles is to help survey the political landscape – not only during storms but during the calms that precede them, to provide perspective as well as to anticipate political turmoil and head it off long before it gathers and spreads.”

Chip brought a background in journalism to electronic publishing, before launching a line of electronic reference products and creating a search utility for the early Internet.  Along the way he found himself creating a novel legal referral program, editing an influential trade publication and directing presidential campaign operations across a swath of rural Pennsylvania.

Chip graduated from Yale University with a degree in history and a strong background in political science; both provided fodder for graduate study, mostly in journalism.  He lives in Boston, where he can sometimes be found pretending to be a musician.
